Naturally Sweetened Gluten-Free Apple Crisp

A cozy gluten-free apple crisp with a jammy but still juicy apple filling and a golden, crisp oat-almond topping, naturally sweetened with maple syrup and coconut sugar.

Ingredients
  

Filling

  • 5 cups sliced apples Honeycrisp or Pink Lady
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 Tbsp arrowroot starch

Topping

  • ¾ cup gluten-free oats
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • ¼ cup coconut sugar
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans optional
  • cup melted butter or coconut oil
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • pinch salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8×8 dish.
  • Mix filling ingredients together in a bowl, then spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Stir together all topping ingredients in a separate bowl, then sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Rachel’s Real-Talk: Serve this warm with coconut whipped cream. I’ve never had leftovers last more than 24 hours.
